Geostationary satellites and variations in the position of the earth's mass center
Abstract
An analysis is conducted to determine whether it would be possible to use geosynchronous satellites to detect the phenomenon of the earth's rotation axis not passing exactly through the center mass of the earth. It is shown how shifts of the earth's rotation axis would cause a shift of the libration points, which could be detected with the aid of a geosynchronous satellite near the libration point.
