A new trend in analysis of turbulence
Abstract
The approach, proposed in the present paper, to the analysis of turbulence is based on the use of equations describing the properties of the fluctuating components of the flow. Specifically, the approach consists of obtaining exact or approximate solutions to an incomplete open set of equations for the fluctuating flow, and applying the solutions to the analysis of the structure of the velocity fluctuations. This makes it possible to derive an eddy-stress tensor whereby the Reynolds equations can be closed.
