Continuous-flow polarization nephelometer
Abstract
The instrument described in the present paper was developed for operative around-the-clock measurements of the matrix of light scattering by atmospheric air, as a means of studying the variations of the optical characteristics of the aerosol background. In addition to such measurements (over a wide range of meteorological conditions), the instrument can be used to study the influence of such effects as heating and humidity on the aerosol. A system developed for measuring simultaneously four components of the light scattering matrix is discussed.
