Production and dissipation of magnetic fields in a laser plasma
Abstract
A numerical investigation of the mechanisms of generation and evolution of magnetic fields in a laser plasma for Nd-laser fluxes up to 10 to the 14th W/sq cm is presented. Two cases are studied: (1) the flow stability and the production of fields in a D-T pellet accelerated by laser radiation and (2) the development of perturbations as a function of laser pulse duration in the axisymmetric compression of a spherical glass vessel.
