Thyratrons for pulsed lasers
Abstract
The adaptation of thyratrons for use in gas lasers is discussed. Ignition requirements of gas lasers are described, and it is noted that the experience with the lasers had shown that a mere application of high voltage to the discharge chamber did not necessarily result in immediate conduction. Technological developments in the design of thyratrons to meet the ignition requirements are examined. The operational procedures of various advanced models, such as the CX 1168 and CX 1570, are considered.
