Generalised correlation model for designing 2dimensional image coders
Abstract
The design of a 2dimensional image coder is based on a model of the correlation of adjacent picture elements. The most often used models, the separable and the isotropic correlation model, yield no optimal performance. Thus, a generalised correlation model is developed. The parameters are optimised with respect to the statistics of 14 digitised pictures.
