Improvements on a cryogenically cooled mixer for 80 - 120 GHz.
Abstract
A previously developed low-noise mixer for radio astronomy has been significantly improved, resulting in greater bandwidth and higher reliability. After modification a single-sideband conversion loss and mixer temperature of 6.1 dB and 635 K, respectively, have been achieved for a local-oscillator frequency of 111.4 GHz and 5.3 dB and 525 K, respectively, for a frequency of 84 GHz.
