Guidelines for pretuning the single-post waveguide mount
Abstract
Eisenhart's theoretical analysis of the single-post waveguide mount is used to optimize the geometrical parameters of the post. Their effect can be related to both magnitude and phase of the reflection coefficient of the post impedance in a simple way, if the waveguide height is not reduced. Guidelines for pretuning the mount are established for this case. Furthermore, it is shown that a large reduction of the height yields a mount, which can perform a unit transformation. Such a structure is useful for measuring the impedance of semiconductor devices.
