Photoacoustic spectroscopy in several gases at CO2 laser wavelengths
Abstract
Photoacoustic spectra at CO2 laser wavelengths have been obtained for a number of gases at a pressure of 170 mtorr, in an effort to evaluate the suitability of these gases as far-IR laser media. The gases included: methyl alcohol, dichlorofluoromethane, difluorochloromethane, furan, ethyl acetate, and methyl sulfoxide. None of the gases was found to lase.
