Optimization of LDV geometry
Abstract
Linear programming techniques are used for demarcating a region of optimum operation for a laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV). This region of optimal operation is found by applying a number of criteria, such as scattering center size, measurement volume size, spectral broadening and ambiguity, signal strength, and the limitations imposed by the signal processor. It is found that in the design of a LDV a simple graphical method may be used to optimize the choice of the Gaussian f number of the lens and the angle between the two beams.
