Effects of terminal state lifetime on Nd-glass laser amplifiers
Abstract
The performance of Nd-glass laser amplifiers is evaluated by means of computer simulation. The model of this laser amplifier is set up in terms of the speed of light in the medium, using the terminal state lifetime of fluorescence as a parameter. The results of simulation show quantitatively the effects of the terminal state lifetime on the power gain, amplification saturation, energy absorption coefficient and pulse waveform distortion of the Nd-glass laser.
