Occultations of stars by solar system objects. I. Predictions for Ceres, 1979/1980.
Abstract
Eleven occultations of stars by Ceres during its 1979/1980 apparition have been identified using a graphical method and accurate astrometry of recent-epoch plates. One particularly favorable occultation, on 31 July 1979 UT, should be observable from a large part of Europe. The maximum duration of this event will be unusually long about 135 s-and a light drop of 0.12 mag during occultation is expected. Potential observers are urged not to make detailed observing plans on the basis of this preliminary prediction.
