A modified oneequation model of turbulence for the calculation of free shear flows
Abstract
The use of a turbulence model to evaluate the effective viscosity is common in the calculation of free shear flows. A semiempirical relation for the lengthscale of turbulence is derived that potentially improves the universality of the oneequation model. With the same values of empirical constants, the model provided acceptable predictions of both mean and turbulent quantities for four flow with different geometries. The model may therefore be recommended for the prediction of twodimensional free shear flows.
