The rotational velocity effect on the main sequence Am stars metallicity.
Abstract
Summary. The correlation between the photometric index 6m1 and the projected rotational velocity V sin i is studied for the Main Sequence Am stars, the early Am stars excluded. The Am stars with -0.06< 6m1 <-0.04 have invariably vsini<55 km s- while the Am stars with -0.04<6m1 can have larger V sin i (up to 105 km 5-i) So, it seems that for the Main Sequence Am stars the degree of metallicity (measured by the 6m1 index) does not disappear progressively with increasing rotational velocity.
