Temperature response to X-ray heating in multiple layer systems with temperature dependent thermal properties
Abstract
This paper discusses a model for predicting the temperature profile in multiple layer systems when exposed to X-ray heating. The model uses a standard exponential absorption equation to calculate the X-ray energy deposition and a finite difference model to calculate temperatures. Effects of system thermal capacity and thermal conduction are included which consider temperature dependent thermal properties. Results show substantial reductions in predicted peak temperatures when including thermal conduction and emphasize the necessity for using temperature dependent thermal properties.
