Time-dependent dose rate and Compton electron generation from mono-energetic gamma sources in homogeneous air
Abstract
A series of time dependent Monte Carlo calculations was performed to calculate the gamma dose rate, the ionpair production rate, and the Compton current in homogeneous air. Special elements of the Monte Carlo method are a last flight estimator for all radiation quantities and a time dependent treatment of the pair production process. Graphical results are given for photon source energies 1, 2, 4, and 8 MeV and for penetration distances out to 1600 m.
