Extension and replacement of asphalt cement with sulfur, executive summary
Abstract
The use of elemental sulfur as a partial replacement and/or extender or asphalt cement in highway paving mixtures is investigated. The physical properties of combinations of sulfur-asphalt emulsions are discussed. Characterization tests on selected combinations of agregate, asphalt, and sulfur using three different mixing methods are presented. The use of computer programs for screening design combinations and evaluating performance of selected pavements is described.
