Generation of coherent VUV and soft X-rays
Abstract
The goal of the program is the development of practical sources of coherent vacuum ultraviolet radiation. The primary effort was on the development of a new type of VUV light source based on spontaneous anti-Stokes scattering. This type of source may prove bright enough to serve as a pump for very short wavelength lasers. Details of the work are presented. In addition, investigation of factors limiting the efficiency of 3547 A to 1182 A generation in Xe was completed. A manuscript describing the results was accepted for publication in the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics.
