Propagation characteristics of detonation waves
Abstract
In the solution of the gasdynamics equations near a surface on which the distributions of the unknown functions are given, the surface may be the envelope of the characteristic surfaces (i.e., the conditions for obtaining an analytical solution are not satisfied). Means of obtaining a solution near the envelope are analyzed for arbitrary systems of first-order quasi-linear partial differential equations. The conditions for the existence of solutions are examined, and the asymptotic behavior of almost plane supercompressed detonation waves is studied.
