UV flux measurements and O/1-D/ photoproduction rates for the Aug.-Sept. 1977 Gametag flight series
Abstract
Calculation of the O(1-D) photoproduction rates from data obtained by a UV spectroirradiometer (UVS) used in the Aug.-Sept. 1977 Gametag flight series is described. The UVS measures the downward-going solar flux in 10 wavelength bands from 290 to 410 nm. These downward fluxes are converted to omnidirectional fluxes by use of ground (plus cloud) albedoes estimated for the 300 to 400 nm region from pyranometer data, and the photoproduction rates are calculated from the 290 to 330 nm fluxes. Flight conditions and some unprocessed and processed UVS data are reported.
