Point model calculations of EBT performance
Abstract
A zero-dimensional or point model of particle and energy balance for the EBT (Elmo Bumpy Torus) core plasma is described. In addition to the usual neoclassical diffusive losses, the model also allows for assumed instability losses due to dissipative drift modes. The self-consistent ambipolar electric field due to the neoclassical diffusion is found to have a large influence on the allowed operating points, even when turbulent losses dominate neoclassical losses.
