Applications of digital signal processing
Abstract
Applications of digital signal processing in telecommunications are considered, taking into account the characteristics of telecommunications systems, aspects of digital transmission, digital switching, digital signal processing in pulse-code modulated transmission terminals, digital signal processing in frequency-division multiplex transmission terminals, the detection of signaling tones, aliased harmonic distortion as a nonlinear phenomenon, echo control, design considerations for digital signal-processing hardware elements, and uses of the programmable digital signal processor. The digital processing in audio signals is discussed along with the digital processing of speech, digital image processing, sonar signal processing, and digital signal processing in geophysics. Applications of digital signal processing to radar are also examined, giving attention to parameters measured by radar, pulsed radars, radar signal-processing theory, matched-filter implementation, an example of a digital radar processing system, digital technology, analog-to-digital converters, MTI radar, and synthetic aperture radar.
