Calibration of the ST Faint Object Camera
Abstract
A faint-object camera (FOC) for use with a space telescope (ST) is briefly described, and the absolute calibration procedure for the FOC is outlined. The general organization of the three levels of calibration and the technical facilities employed are examined, emphasizing the calibration goals for the photon detector assemblies and the camera itself. Attention is given to the camera's normal imaging mode, time-resolution photometric mode, long-focal-ratio mode, thermal-cycling procedure, and on-board calibration system.
