An investigation of errors of mercury horizon readings.
Abstract
Errors in mercury horizon determinations caused by deviation of the normal to the surface from a true vertical are considered. Experiments to determine the size of errors caused by a slope in the bottom of the mercury dish are described, and the maximum errors caused by a surface film or arising as a result of cleaning the mercury surface are reported.
