Pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics in a tube in tape-induced decaying swirl flow
Abstract
Fluid friction and heat transfer prediction correlations have been obtained using the solution of the swirl equation for decaying tape-induced swirl flow in a tube. The available results are compared with the analysis. It is observed that the heat transfer results generally agree within plus or minus 6%, and the flow exhibits smaller friction factors than nondecaying swirl flow. An augmentation in heat transfer is observed at constant pumping power.
