On the method of the noise source detection - Utilization of digital signal processing
Abstract
Some methods to estimate the contribution of a noise source to the observed noise and to evaluate the acoustic properties of the noise source and the transmission path are described. It is assumed that all the noise sources are kept in operation. It is shown that the cross spectrum and the coherence function are effectively used in the case where the source signal can be measured. For the case where the source signal cannot be directly measured, spatial signal processing is used and discussed in terms of appropriate methods such as a multimicrophone system, a moving microphone system, and a method for discrimination of aircraft noise. All the methods described utilize digital signal processing.
