Modulated langmuir waves and nonlinear Landau damping
Abstract
The nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a nonlocal-nonlinear term, which describes modulated Langmuir waves with the nonlinear Landau damping effect, is solved by numerical calculations. The effects of nonlinear Landau damping on solitary wave solutions are studied. The results show that the solitary waves deform in an asymmetric way changing its velocity. The time evolutions of a periodic modulation are also explored.
