The design of a gravitational-wave antenna in the form of highly sensitive gradiometer is described. The device, of pendulum construction, is designed to measure horizontal gravity gradients at relatively high frequencies of field variation (1 Hz and greater). The limit sensitivities of gradiometers of pendulum and torsion-balance construction are compared.
