RCA's satellite distribution system for small-dish earth terminals
Abstract
The paper describes the RCA satellite system which has been developed to distribute a wide range of program audio, data, and voice grade services throughout the continental United States. The performance specifications have been developed in order to meet many different customer requirements. These include program audio channels with bandwidths ranging from 3.5 kHz to 15 kHz with 50-60-dB SNRs. The baseline receive-only earth stations, with antennas ranging in diameter size from six to 10 feet are described along with satellite EIRP requirements.
