Demand assignment as part of the SBS TDMA satellite communications system
Abstract
Satellite Business Systems (SBS) will provide private switched communications networks via satellite. One of the innovative features of the SBS system is TDMA transmission with demand assignment (DA) of satellite capacity. Customer networks will be able to use their satellite capacity efficiently during the voice-busy hours and use the same satellite capacity efficiently for high-speed data communications (and other applications) during the other hours of the day. The DA system makes much more efficient use of satellite capacity than a design with fixed-capacity trunk routes.
