Design considerations in bandstop digital filters for suppressing wideband clutter in MTI radars
Abstract
An iterative design technique is presented in which the weighted Chebyshev error approximation is used to design a bandstop digital filter with variable stopband attenuation which maintains specified clutter rejection while maximizing the bandwidth over which a Doppler signal is detected with acceptable probability. The multiband filter design program is a variation of the minimax error algorithm with passband edges as the variable parameters. The effects on clutter attenuation resulting from variations in As, Bs, and Bt are presented for both uniform and variable As.
