Intensive archeological survey of a potential independent spent fuel storage facility, Savannah River Plant, Aiken and Barnwell Counties, South Carolina, research manuscript series 141
A complete inventory and evaluation of the archeological resources within the 550 acre parcel of the proposed ISFSF area is presented. Eight previously unrecorded sites were found during the survey, with only one occuring within the main construction area. Three sites showed evidence of prehistoric occupations while the remaining sites were attributable to the historic period. Maps of the sites, the environmental setting, and the archeological background are discussed.
