The intercept receiver
Abstract
The paper deals primarily with microwave ECM intercept receivers and explores why such receivers must differ in detail from other microwave receivers of similar basic designs. In this review, consideration is given to (1) factors affecting intercept receiver design, (2) such important operational requirements as intercept probability and signal selection, (3) intercept systems design and evaluation, and (4) sensitivity standards and signal strengths. Attention is also given to important receiver characteristics, receiver identification, direct detection receivers, superheterodyne receivers, and special components and circuits for intercept systems.
