Effects produced by substorms in the daytime mid-latitude ionosphere
Abstract
In the present paper, several periods characterized by the occurrence of substorms are analyzed, in the daytime sector, on the basis of data obtained at the Tbilisi ionospheric station. The increase in ionization and vertical drift velocity is evaluated as compared to quiet conditions, and these increases are compared with the increase in the rate of vertical displacements within the F2 layer, deduced from data of the Dusheti magnetic observatory.
