Detailed evaluation of Allee-type CCN counter
Abstract
The paper describes the design of a cloud condensation nucleus (CCN) counter for aircraft use. The aim of the design is to extend the range of the Allee-type CCN counter to lower supersaturation (SS) than is normally used, i.e., less than 0.5%, and to make counting the droplets easier. Emphasis is placed on the capability to check the absolute calibration of the device with regard to the droplet photography and SS.
