Nordsat - A DBS system for the Nordic countries
Abstract
A feasibility study dealing with a system of direct-broadcasting satellites for a Scandinavian radio and television broadcast network is presented. The Nordic satellite system, projected for initiation in 1983, would allot 5 TV channels to a western region covering Iceland and Greenland, and 8 TV channels for the area including Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The Ariane launch vehicle has been selected as the first choice for orbiting the Nordsat satellites. Antenna design, transponder weight and power requirements for the satellites are also considered.
