An experiment in high-speed computer communications via satellite
Abstract
An experimental program has been conducted in which two large-scale general-purpose computers in the U.S. and France were connected by a 1.544-Mbit/s satellite communications link. The purpose of the experiment was to investigate the influence of link control protocols on the achievable data transmission rate, and to determine the impact of the communications link on computer resource requirements.
