A new personal dust sampler, the CIP
Abstract
After recalling the main characteristics of the rotary foam dust samplers CPA and CPM 3, the paper describes a new self-contained personal dust sampler intended for measurement of dust exposure at the workplace in the course of a shift. The apparatus is based on the use of a new mode of separation of respirable and non respirable particles, by annular impaction within a rotating housing containing a miniature filter made of polyurethane foam. It has small dimensions, a reduced weight and can be easily worn by a worker. Its flow rate is high, more than 10 l/mn; it is insensitive to jerks and can operate in all positions.
