A model of MHD naturalconvection heat transfer from a finite cylinder
Abstract
A description is presented of a simplified analytical model of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) naturalconvection heat transfer from a finite cylinder at various orientations with respect to an applied magnetic field. The model is an extension of an approximate theory proposed by Lykoudis and Dunn (1973) which successfully predicted the MHD naturalconvection heat transfer from hotfilm probes aligned axially with a horizontal magnetic field. It is found that the MHD naturalconvection heat transfer from a finite cylinder can be expressed solely as a function of the Lykoudis number and a constant.
