Theory of cross-polarisation and sub-optimal adaptive cancellation on satellite links
Abstract
The paper considers cross-polarization and suboptimal adaptive cancellation on satellite links. A one-parameter device is suggested, based on the principle showing that on linearly polarized links differential phase shift tends to produce a cross-polarized signal in quadrature with the wanted polarization. A one-parameter system will be mainly suitable for dual linearly polarized links operating in situations where differential phase shift is the dominant cause of cross-polarization. Possible examples are the present 4/6 GHz COMSTAR system, or future European systems.
