Electrohydrodynamically enhanced heat transfer in liquids - A review
Abstract
An exhaustive published bibliography of work on EHD coupled heat transfer in liquids is provided, and the principal contributions made since the original work of Kronig and Ahsmann (1949) are reviewed. The conventional formulation of the EHD equations is briefly summarized, all important experimental parameters and physical phenomena in EHD heat-transfer research are classified systematically, and studies of EHD coupled convective heat transfer are discussed. Work on boiling heat transfer and condensation heat transfer is also examined, along with some interesting heat-transfer devices and concepts. The major experimental observations and theoretical conclusions in the field of EHD coupled heat transfer in liquids are concisely summarized, future work on EHD coupled heat transfer is considered, and potential applications of EHD heat transfer are indicated.
