Spontaneous bremsstrahlung of an electron in the field of an intense electromagnetic wave
Abstract
The spectral intensity and total power are found for the spontaneous bremmstrahlung of an electron in scattering by ions in the field of an intense electromagnetic wave (of frequency omega sub 0). A resonance structure of the radiation is observed at frequencies close to n(omega sub 0), where n = 1, 2, 3, . . . . The width of the resonance curve, the locations of the peaks, the number of resonance peaks, and the values of spectral intensity at the peaks are determined. The maximum number of quanta of the intense field which can be absorbed in spontaneous bremsstrahlung is found. It is shown that the maximum energy of the spontaneously radiated photon is determined by the energy of the oscillations of the electron in the field of the wave.
