Quasi-elliptical coplanar transfer in a central field of arbitrary structure
Abstract
The paper considers coplanar fuel-optimal Hohmann pulsed transfer orbits between circular orbits in an arbitrary central gravitational field. Transfer parameters in the equatorial plane of a normal spheroid under arbitrary compression are presented. The optimal (not closed-form, in general) trajectory is determined to be the one that is tangential at its apsidal points (having motion) to the bounding circular orbits.
