Analytical approximation of the elastic scattering cross section in kinetic theory of gases
Abstract
Expressions are derived for calculating the scattering amplitude for interaction potentials in the soft-core type and the hard-core plus attraction type. The amplitudes are expressed in terms of the scattering amplitude in the rigid sphere gas model, however, the effective radius is a function of the energy, the scattering angle, and the parameters of the molecular potential.
