An approximate solution to the nonlinear problem of diffraction of a strong shock wave by a corner
Abstract
The paper deals with the gas flow in a region adjacent to the perturbed shock front in the problem of diffraction of strong shock wave by a corner greater than pi. A solution is obtained under the assumption that the ratio of the gas density in front of the shock to the density just behind the shock is smaller than unity. An analytical expression for the shape of the perturbed shock front is derived.
