Investigation of plane oscillations of a satellite in an elliptical orbit with the method of canonical transformations.
Abstract
Threesmall parameter models that use canonical transformations are presented for the twodimensional motion of a satellite about its center of mass in an elliptical orbit. The first model represents the motion of an almostspherical satellite on an almostcircular orbit; the compression of the satellite and the eccentricity of the orbit are small parameters of the same order. The second model describes the motion of an almostspherical satellite on an appreciably elliptical orbit; the orbital eccentricity is several orders of magnitude greater than the satellite compression. The third model represents the motion of a flat satellite on an almostcircular orbit; the compression is several orders of magnitude greater than the eccentricity.
