Determination of the corrosion behavior in welding joints by means of the potential probe

The registration of the corrosion behavior of material combinations, such as weld constructions, by means of electrochemical potential measurement is described. Potential-way-diagrams are picked up by an electrochemical probe on a welded specimen surface vertical across the weld rope. The level of the potentials indicates the relative corrosion resistance of the particular structure parts of a weld compound. The less resistant part can be identified especially for welded compositions of different materials.
