On the damping effect in surface plastic deformation
Abstract
Vibration theory is used to examine two techniques for metal working by surface plastic deformation which are schematized by two mechanical models. It is shown that in the second metal working technique the indentor vibrations can be minimized by reducing its period and amplitude. Oscillographic studies and the obtained quantitative data confirm the advisability of using the second technique for metal working under production conditions.
