Relationship between short and long term rainfall rates and its implication for the design of radio links
Abstract
Experimentally determined relationships between the mean values of rain intensity measured at one minute and sixty minute intervals are given. These relationships, which were determined in the course of a three year measurement period, are compared with data published by LIN in 1975. The values of attenuation due to rain which were measured on a 12.2 GHz radio link are used to show to what extent design data radio links of this type can be obtained from records of rainfall rates alone.
