Estimation methods of attenuation and cross-polarization due to rain and multiple paths and evaluation of the efficiency of path diversity and space diversity
Abstract
A model to characterize the behavior of radio links in the 19 GHz band subjected to rain in the transmitting path is discussed. The methods for evaluation of the attenuation and cross-polarization due to rain are described and used for modeling the system behavior. The design of radio links using path diversity and space diversity between receiving antennas vertically distanced is examined, and expressions are presented which describe the fading improving factors as a function of design variables.
